i was wondering like if i bought a game and downloaded it to my hard drive would i still be able to sell somewhere like with no problems?

  2. stiffpick says:

No you need to have the CD to start the game, the only differ is the console runs not so loud, loading is faster. but you need the CD to start the game.

My hard drive is starting to get full, is there any way to copy the games to an external drive or do you just have to delete them

  4. BobA says:

Just delete them, anything that you paid for like maps you can download again for free.

My stepbrother has an xbox 360 and has some games i really like and ones that i have played, but i dont feel that i should pay $60 for each one. Is it legal for me to copy those games to my hard drive?

  6. admin says:

it is illegal to copy a CD to sell for profit, or to give to someone who has never purchased the game. But if you copy a CD for your own back-up purposes in case your original copy gets scratched or lost, it doesn’t matter.

My friend said if you have a cd game, you can copy the entire game to the hard drive, which means you can put your games into there and dont need the cd anymore to launch and play the game.

    Is this true?

And if not, what do you need a hard drive for? I heard u can buy almost any game on live for points?
(Demo’s of 5GB where you can play 5 minutes on and the trial is over is no reason to buy a hard drive)

    THANKS FOR ANSWERING :)

If you’re talking about Xbox 360, yes, you can copy almost any game to the hard drive, but you still need the disc. It won’t play without the disc in the drive. The point of “installing” the game is to improve load times (since the console loads data from the hard drive far quicker than from the DVD drive), and to reduce operating noise of the 360 (since the DVD drive is quite loud).

Other benefits of having a hard drive is downloading DLC (extra content for games), saving games (if you have a lot of games, you’ll soon need more space for this than a memory card can provide), downloading demos as you’ve mentioned, videos, all kinds of stuff. I can’t imagine using a360 without a hard drive. It’d be half a console.

I install all of the games that I am currently playing. I have 81 full retail games on 360. A 250gb hard drive, and have used about 200gb of it. Probably 120gb of that is installs. 50gb is DLC, the rest demos, videos and saves.

    I hope that helps!

I’m not looking to copy, I just want to play games without disks on my PC. We’re going away, and I want to take my laptop but I don’t want to take all my games with… I want to copy them to my Hard Drive, any ideas?

what you need is a CD crack. go to google and type in your game and cd crack. download that and you should be given a icon of your game and a .dll. go to your main hard drive and goto programfiles/”your game” and paste those in where their copies are to replace the icon and .dll files.

I’ve been planning to buy a PS3 and been thinking if could copy from my friends’ multiman.

  12. Alucard says:

why don’t you buy them instead thief, if you really plan on doing that don’t buy one loser unless you want a very expensive paperweight and being sued by SONY for hacking and copy infringement

When i first got my xbox360 i didn’t know that when u move the xbox a circular scratch appears on the disk my question is if you rent a copy of say fallout3 from blockbuster install it on your hard drive could you play with a scratched version of that game?

  14. Greens says:

yeah you can, the hard drive just requires the disc to be in. Make sure the blockbuster version isn’t scratched either though.

Im trying to download a game so I can play it on a computer that dose not have an internet connection but I dont want to download it to my laptop. Is there any way I can bypass downloading it directly to my computer and straight to a flash drive?

I just got a few new games this holiday season and I was wondering how I can copy the disks to my hard drive so I don’t need to put the disk in to play

  17. admin says:

I use a program called Virtual CD (http://www.virtualcd-online.com/). It allows you to create ISO images of any CD. Then mount/load those images onto a Virtual CD drive.

  18. MarkR says:

    Hi everyone,
I was on a website today and they said with the new dashboard coming out in a couple of weeks you’ll be able to copy a game to your xbox’s hard drive. Therefore, you won’t need the disc to play games resulting in lower loading times and a quieter console.

If this is true, then can I borrow games from the rental store, copy them to my hard drive, and keep them on the hard drive? This seems too good to be true. Can someone please confirm

  19. Artifact says:

Nope. you will still need the disc to start up the game but it will run off the hard drive. it will cut down on the wear and tear of your optical drive and your system will be quieter. some people say a bit faster too!
