I have a 4.3 homebrew Wii that was modded throught Super Smash Brothers. Can somebody explain to me how I can play backup Wii games off of a burnt DVD or a USB device? I can’t figure it out?

  2. jeffr says:

i answer this “?” alot and always get picked over in favor of some idiot saying use this loader or that. telling the asker what they want to hear. here is the truth. after the d3 chipped wiis, you cannot play burnt games (unless you chip it). usb loaders work great though. first of all you need to have cios installed. home brew is not the hack. check here and see if you have done something similar.

as for the back ups. you can use a usb laoder. i would suggest a w/d mypassport or something to that effect. should you decide to put media and use the hard drive for other uses, partition it. then format the chosen partition (if you did split it). you can use wfbs manager for this on the pc. i know usb loader gx will do it also (i recomend this loader persoanlly). then you can either use wfbs manager to add an iso (wii game) to the hard drive. then you should be fine. up and running. i will warn you though certain games use certian ioses and settings. you may need to get a certain ios installed for a game. for eample, cod black ops uses a ios 250 base 57. once you get the ios installed, you will then have to set the loader to use ios 250. it depends on the game. if you have trouble just google for the loader settings. wiihacks and gba temps are good sources of info. i think you can get going from here. good luck

Not with homebreware but with the twighlight hack teh same steps from http://gizmodo.com/5071573/the-only-wii-homebrew-guide-you-will-ever-need

  4. LarisaStreinbacher says:

No, You can’t. I have a homebrew channel and it doesnt allow you to play backup games

  5. ExtremelyConfused says:

I have a PAL Wii with Homebrew channel installed. I have backup loader/launcher installed and it plays PAL games fine. Will it play NTSC backups?

  6. dapple says:

Yes, no need to configure anything. If you have problems, then just set the option to force NTSC

  7. MammaBug says:

We recently purchased a wii, and my younger daughter has been using it, however she tends to forget to put the games back into the cases when she changes them. I am worried about them getting scratched, or worse yet, broken. I have read about the wii homebrew channel and am curious as to how to make it work with burned games?

Please keep in mind that I do not condone any illegal copying of games, I simply would like to make copies of games that I already own so that the originals can be placed out of harms way, and the 60-70 dollars does not go down the drain if a cd gets messed up or damaged. ( I have done research and from my understanding making copies of any copyrighted material that you ALREADY own for PERSONAL USE is legal… such as copying music from a cd you already own to your computer to place on your ipod, etc.)

O.K. I will help you, ’cause there was a time I needed help with all this and someone helped me, so I’m doing the same thing. =)

I was like you, wanting to play back-ups on my Wii. So the first thing you gotta have is a SD card (the memory of a camera phone). I already assume you got the Homebrew channel so therefore I will skip to what you have to do.

    1. Insert your SD card into your computer.

    2. Then, go to this link.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEral9gf5cc&feature=related
This video contains what you will need.

    3. Once you have downloaded the files, put the files into your SD card.
And then remove the SD card and insert it into your Wii.

    4. Once when you set everything up, you should get a working APP
called, “Backup Loader”, if so you have done everything correct.
Then either, press B to reboot it (which I normally do) or you can load the back-up game from there. But, if you’re gonna load it from the backup loader and NOT the disc channel, you have to insert the burned back-up game.

    5. If you choose not to start it from the APP then press B to boot it.
Then you should insert the burned back-up game, and at the disc channel you should get your fully back-up game.

    You’re welcome. =)

So I have Wii 4.3u and exploited Super Smash Bros Brawl with my SD card, boot.elf, and Smash Stack. So I have this Homebrew Channel. Now what? I put my backup disc in the Wii, and I get the same result as when I tried it before Homebrewing: “Unable to read the disc.” I am using Philips DVD+R and booktyped to DVD-ROM when burning the iso with ImgBurn. I hear DVD-R works better, but I also heard DVD+R is compatible. Anyway, when I exploited the Wii I installed Homebrew and something called Bootmii, which I have no idea what it is. What do I do now? Do I have to install DVDX or whatever thats called? How do I do that? There was no option to install that when I exploited. Also there was an option called “prepare sd card” when I exploited, I didn’t mess with that. Also, I don’t have a USB flash drive(or an external HDD), so I can’t do USBLOADER or whatever that is, I’m using DVDS.(I do have an 8GB SDHC card though.) From what I hear you need ‘Wii Backup Launcher” channel or something?? How do you install that? I hope it doesn’t require the use of SSBB again, because I borrowed it from a friend and can’t get it back.. I do still have my SD card though. Thanks for reading all of this.
What in the world is neogamma?
Zatch, I would like a better explanation. Where do you get this USB GX LOADER? Would it work with a SDHC card? Because if you read my description you would have seen that I said I have no USB flash drive or hard drive. And I have no idea what a “wbfs manager 3.0″ is, what it does, or how to get it.
How do I install this Wii Hack Pack onto my Wii?
    How
do you load the “Multi Mod Manager”?
Do I copy all 9 folders and 6 files from the Hack Pack into the root of the SD card?
It’s also weird, because when I go to Homebrew Channel and try to start BootMii, the screen just goes Black and stays like that. I have to unplug the Wii and turn it back on to get back to the homescreen, because it won’t respond to turning off; I have to unplug it.

  10. admin says:

    -Step 4
    1. Format your SD Card
    2. Download [HMN] Wii 4.3 Hack Pack (Part 2)
    http://www.mediafire.com/?jp3n051879u8r5c

    3. Extract and Copy to SD Card

    -Step 5, Install WAD’s
Never Uninstall IOS, you will brick your wii
    1. Start HBC, Load Multi Mod Manager
    2. Select “WAD Manager” – Press A
    3. Press (1) to “Install all Wads” – Press A
    4. 19 wads should install without issue
    5. “Press any button to continue”
Be sure all the wads install, very important
If the wads fail to install, install 1 at a time
    6. Press B two times- main menu

If you do this correctly it will install 3 new channels. The three new channels will be called: Neogamma backup launcher, USB gx loader, and gc backup launcher. Those three new things will be their own channels. Take your dvd and put it in the wii. Start the neogamma channel and then keep pressing A. This will open the game as normal

i had my wii unbricked yesterday , there’s a homebrew channel , is homebrew channel can play backup games ?

  12. admin says:

No, but it will let you using another software inside it which will let you play backup games Like USBLoader, or other softwares. Installation instruction can be found on Youtube.

  13. madstarr145 says:

Ok, I am about to install the Homebrew Channel into my Wii via bannerbomb. I’m going to install using a 2GB SD Card. But then I will install the software needed for running the backup games via the same SD Card. I will put some Wii isos that I backed up (yes, I own the actual games) in a 16gb SDHC to be able to play them on my Wii console. But one thing puzzles me. My SDHC card is an NTFS format to be able to transfer large files like Wii isos which are 4.4GB in size on to the card. Is NTFS format able to be read on Wii? I heard that only FAT or FAT32 formats work? Or is there another method in transfering large files onto an SDHC card and be compatible with a certain card format? Please help!

  14. Nelzoma says:

There is a special Wii format called WBFS. That is the best format for playing Wii backups but computers have trouble interacting with it. I suggest you use an application called Gparted to partition (partitioning allows to to create two separate sections of your SD card that can be formatted differently) and format to WBFS. Once it is WBFS i suggest you use the application calle Wii Game Manager to add games to it or if you are on a Mac WBFS for Mac OSX. A guide for how to do all this and more can be found at:

    http://gwht.wikidot.com

I wouldn’t suggest using an SD because it doesn’t hold very much. You should use an external hard drive in your USB port for Wii Backups but it should work anyways.

one of my games got scratched and wont work at all so i got the homebrew channel but now i dont know which homebrew app to get that will let me play my backup wii games

What you’re looking for is called a backup loader. Most of them support loading from disc or USB now. Here’s a list of the most popular ones:

    -CFG USB Loader

    -Wiiflow

    -Neogamma

    -USB Loader GX

Not in any particular order, above. I’ve included links to guides for each of them, so take your pick and enjoy. Keep in mind you will need a working cIOS to run backup games on your Wii. In case you’re not sure you have one, you can follow the source link for instructions.

Hi, I just downloaded the homebrew channel onto my wii. I currently have the browser and a couple of old games, but I’m having trouble getting games like call of duty 5. From my understanding, you have to download the wii backup launcher and then burn discs. If so, how do i download the backup launcher and how do I burn discs. If that is not the way you do it please tell me what I have to do. PLEASE HELP!!!

  18. someonesweeter5 says:

You’re on the right track as of right now to get the backup launcher, by installing the homebrew channel. the installation process of the backup launcher is quite simple though. Go to http://www.Wiikendhacks.com they have a great tutorial and a well organized download pack for installing the backup launcher. it works great! the site is also very user friendly so if you need any help with the installation you can always email them.

Is the Wii Backup Loader available on the Homebrew channel, or is this something you download, and load with your SD card to the Wii? Also, should I upgrade my Homebrew Browser? I have v .3 running on a Wii 4.3 firmware. I tried to up date when loading the browser, but it said it was unable to update.

I am looking play games burnt from DVD’s

    Any help appreciated.

  20. TStodden says:

First of all… Update the Homebrew Channel to version 1.0.8 beta & the Homebrew Browser to version v0.3.9b

For the Homebrew Channel, go to http://bootmii.org/download/ for the HackMii Installer (which includes HBC & BootMii)

For the Homebrew Browser, go to http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Homebrew_Browser for more information & download a fresh update for it… as you’ll probably have to do a manual update.

As for Backup loaders, they exist… but you’re treading into pirate territory there, so information will be a bit difficult to find as WiiBrew & the managers of the Homebrew Browser won’t have the stuff you want listed in their catalogs.

You’ll need to install cIOS 236 (this is a trucha bugged version of an older version of IOS 36, as IOS 36 has been updated in Wii Menu 4.3) & cIOS 249 (requires cIOS 236) to make it possible.

As for using DVD-R’s… most Wii’s don’t play well with burnt DVD’s, so the Discless option is the preferred method.

go to http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/home for more information on what you want.
